Lead Pastor

Mark Sullivan grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. Yes, he is a die-hard Bears fan! Although he was only miles from one of the largest evangelical churches in the United States, he did not have a relationship with Jesus Christ until he was a high school senior. After coming into relationship with Christ, he felt the call on his life to let others know the life transforming power of having a personal relationship with Jesus. He attended Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois where he received his Associate of Arts degree and transferred to North Central University where in he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies. He served as Youth Pastor at Crossroads Church in Prior Lake from 1993 to 1999. He served at New Life Christian Center in Princeton from 2000 to 2004 in preaching ministry, Sunday School, Junior Bible Quiz, and Adult and Children’s Drama ministry. Mark and Diane felt called to plant the church in Waconia, Minnesota in 2003. They moved in August 2004 to Waconia and Promise Community Church launched services on November 18, 2005. Mark is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God.

Favorite Movie: The Right Stuff

Favorite Scripture verse: Well, right now…this is one is my favorite: “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.” Psalm 90:12

Favorite Hobbies: Tennis, basketball and golf

Fun Fact about yourself: I attended the longest game (in duration) in major league baseball history. The 1984 game between the Brewers and White Sox that went an exhausting 8 hours and 6 minutes over 25 innings. The game was so long, it was suspended in the top of the 18th with the score 3-3 and was completed the next day at then Comiskey Park. I had free tickets for the game on May 9 when the game was completed. It was so long that we blew the engine out on our car on the way to the game, sold the car at the Oasis, had my mom pick me and my dad up and drive us home, and then drove to the game (and still got to see the end of the game).

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten? Horsemeat in a Japanese restaurant while in China

If you sat down next to Jesus on a bus, what would you talk about? Where He got the bus fare…well, really, it would be how I could be the most effective in seeing His Kingdom come.
